MS150 review

// June 2nd, 2009 // Rides

Wow…its been a month since the Bike MS ride in early May!

Team Cooper Fitness/IC3 had a great time.  We started with about 8 riders on a beautiful weather day.  Knowing that the second day was likely to get cancelled due to weather, most of us were planning on running a hard Saturday to get in a really good workout.  We started out as 5 or 6, with 2 more that started further back.

We hit every other rest stop, including lunch.  Somewhere along the way we picked up a Ride Marshal named Jo, and ran smack into a serious cold front that had us shivering through lunch.  Around mile 70 or so, we ran back out of the front (and the tailwind) and into a warm headwind.

Richard, David, Eddie and I came in at the end of the 83 miles with a 19.3 avg.  Chris and David came in just a few minutes behind us, and Todd about 15 after that.

And then the skies opened up with one of the worst spring storms I’ve seen in a long time.  This was the same storm that destroyed the Dallas Cowboys’ training facility “bubble” in Las Colinas, TX.

All in all, a good ride that we may do a repeat performance on next year.

Coolest part of the ride: I got my annual kiss from MS victim Geri at the lunch stop.  I was afraid I wasn’t going to see her this year, since I normally find her at the end of day 2.
