Volunteer opportunities!
// June 2nd, 2009 // No Comments » // Races
There are two upcoming events that could use a person just like you!
1. The Collin County Classic ride June 13 has a rest stop being manned by Christian radio station Power 89.7 FM. They could use some additional folks to help out. Click here for more details: http://www.kvrk.com/cycling.html
2. IC3 North Texas is putting on a USAC sanctioned Criterium on July 11. This is an all day affair. We need volunteer help to set up on Friday afternoon, help with the clinics on Friday evening and help run the race on Saturday. Please email Kevin@DallasDBAs.com if you are able to help. The race is at the Cooper Fitness facility in Craig Ranch (McKinney, TX).
Thanks!
Kevin
MS150 review

Wow…its been a month since the Bike MS ride in early May!
Team Cooper Fitness/IC3 had a great time. We started with about 8 riders on a beautiful weather day. Knowing that the second day was likely to get cancelled due to weather, most of us were planning on running a hard Saturday to get in a really good workout. We started out as 5 or 6, with 2 more that started further back.
We hit every other rest stop, including lunch. Somewhere along the way we picked up a Ride Marshal named Jo, and ran smack into a serious cold front that had us shivering through lunch. Around mile 70 or so, we ran back out of the front (and the tailwind) and into a warm headwind.
Richard, David, Eddie and I came in at the end of the 83 miles with a 19.3 avg. Chris and David came in just a few minutes behind us, and Todd about 15 after that.
And then the skies opened up with one of the worst spring storms I’ve seen in a long time. This was the same storm that destroyed the Dallas Cowboys’ training facility “bubble” in Las Colinas, TX.
All in all, a good ride that we may do a repeat performance on next year.
Coolest part of the ride: I got my annual kiss from MS victim Geri at the lunch stop. I was afraid I wasn’t going to see her this year, since I normally find her at the end of day 2.

Fellowship rides have returned!
Now that the weather is turning nicer, its time for us to start doing our relaxed, get-to-know-each-other rideas again.
We have FRs leaving from two locations in McKinney and other parts of the Metroplex as desired.
Please check out the events page on our site to see when and where we are riding next!
Tuesday night racing!
// March 31st, 2009 // No Comments » // Races
A staple of the North Texas racing scene has returned for 2009. This criterium series has been running for at least 15 years that I know of, maybe even 20 or more. Every Tuesday night in Plano, racers from elite to first-timers gather for 30-60 minutes of “go fast, turn right.”
There are three races: A, B and C…details are provided at: DallasCrit.com
IC3 member Michael will be racing in the C race from time to time in his McKinney Velo kit, and Kevin (DallasBikr) is in the B race most weeks in his IC3 jersey.
Crit racing is extremely spectator friendly, so come on out and watch, cheer or jeer!
Thanks,
DB

Team Cooper Fitness/IC3 has been formed!
If you are interested in joining or donating, please click the link and select “Join Team” or click on a rider to support. For some reason, all of our current riders last names start with G or H. If yours doesn’t, we need you!
If you are not sure that you can ride 75 miles on back to back days there are two things you should be aware of:
- Training is available at no charge from me and various group rides around DFW
- You can grab a shuttle in from wherever you stop…10, 25, 50 miles…whatever!

Horse Country Time Trial
// February 26th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Races
We are about 10 days out from the first running of the Horse Country Time Trial for 2009. This is our 3rd year to run the event and March is part of a 3-race High School weekend as well as being the opening event of the Texas Cup Regional competition for the North region.
We can always use volunteers of any age, cyclist or not. Even a 10 year old can clap for the racers as they finish. Men or couples…we can use corner marshalls to keep cars and bikes from running over each other. I can train you in 5 minutes
Let me know if you can help out!
Thanks,
DB
